Christmas Inspiration

Even Mother Nature
is in the mood for Christmas.
She's already decorating.
This was last night looking out our back door.
And this morning out our front door.
It's all dressed in white at a whopping 9 degrees.

I usually don't start decorating until about the middle of December.
That's plenty of time to enjoy it.
The decorations aren't what it's all about.
If you want to feel really fortunate,
you might read 'Foxfire Christmas.'
(I borrowed it from the library.)
I won't ruin it for you,
but it is amazing how ungrateful we are for so much,
myself included.

Until next time,
Nimble Fingers and Even Stitches

  1. I am taking a break from embroidering to catch up with friends and have a cup of coffee. Your winter pictures are so pretty. We haven't had any snow to really speak of so far. Yesterday 61 and today 28.I love the quilts that you showed. I always love looking at other peoples work.Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I did. Take care. 1. We've done a lot of eating and catching up over here as well. It would be nice if the roads thawed out a bit & at least got to double digits for a temperature. Otherwise, I think it's beautiful.

  2. We went from freezing and snow to 60 degrees so I took the opportunity to put up some bows on the front porch columns with a wreath in the center of the porch rails. That is about the extent that I will do this year, as I get older and feel colder, I'm not as enthused about outdoor decorating. We will put up a tree maybe next weekend when my granddaughter comes over and put out the Wonky Santa cookie jar. I like your nice photo!

    1. Grandchildren are great that way (though I don't have any yet.) Your's are old enough to decorate and not put all the ornaments lined up on one branch:) I don't do any outside decorations since last time I did they ended up being 'up' until Feb. frozen in ice and snow.

  3. frost an snow is so pretty when fresh and new but oh too cold for me |I am hoping we have another snow free winter this year, can live in hope! I do very little for Xmas decorations, I do have lots of embroideries etc from the past but living on my own do not bother, maybe I will put one on the chimney breast in the lounge, not that I ever go in there as I hibernate in the kitchen

    1. I don't mind the snow, but the single digit temp. is too cold especially when with wind chill it's below 0. I'm a wimp that way. Keep warm.

  5. Girl, your "woods" are so beautiful! We looked like that a few weeks ago for a few days, and I love how gorgeous it is... But as you say, the fog and daily below freezing temps that get it to look that way are a bit intimidating. I wanted to take pictures, but was so busy getting some things finished, it was all melted before I made the time to take pictures. I hope to get some ne t time it happens!!! But I am really enjoying your pictures!!!!
